I am interested in the where (posterior medial cortex), when (very, very rapidly), what (space, concepts and episodes) and how (rehearsal, sleep) of memory formation and consolidation in the human brain, especially in the neocortex. I investigate the functional dynamics of hippocampal and neocortical contributions in the course of memory formation as well as how the strength and content of a memory evolve over time, rehearsal and sleep. By probing tissue microstructure and identifying biomarkers for experience-induced plasticity, I look at sites of memory storage in the brain.
